I'm an award-winning investigative journalist based in Phoenix, Arizona. 

My work focuses on exposing systemic equity issues and interrogating the ways longstanding policies can cause harm. My writing has been featured in major publications throughout the U.S., including USA Today, The Associated Press and The Center for Public Integrity.

While working at The Arizona Republic in Phoenix, I spearheaded novel investigations on housing insecurity and homelessness in the fifth-largest city in the U.S.

I got my start in journalism as an enterprise reporter for PublicSource, a nonprofit newsroom in Pittsburgh, where my groundbreaking reporting on mental health, criminal justice and policing led to city and county reforms. I was named Pennsylvania's Emerging Journalist of 2021 by the Pennsylvania NewsMedia Association. 

Before launching my journalism career, I spent a year teaching English in Taichung, Taiwan as a Fulbright grantee.

I have an MA in investigative journalism from Arizona State University and a BA in nonfiction writing and political science from the University of Pittsburgh. I also studied Mandarin Chinese at National Taiwan Normal University (師大) in Taipei, Taiwan as a Huayu Enrichment Scholar.

I enjoy wrangling data in R (GitHub here), scouring public records and reaching new audiences on TV, the radio and, of course, TikTok.

When I'm not on deadline, you can find me rock climbing, eating sushi and making very bad pottery.
